A treasure trove of fabulous jewelry shines at Michaan's in February. Highlights are a spectacular Mughal necklace of gold with tourmalines and diamonds, and multiple lots of Native American silver with turquoise and other stones, a selection of jewelry pieces including concho belts and bolos. Fine diamonds set in platinum and gold are plentiful. Weighty gold pieces of excellent quality and design, many featuring animal motifs, will delight collectors and Valentines alike. A sizzling bronze Erté Art Deco sculpture, romantic French furnishings and rare fine miniatures are in the sale. Asian Art treasures range from fine carved coral to ancient bronze, and from Satsuma vases to famille rose porcelains. Hector Ettore Serbaroli's view of Mt. Tamalpais is among the excellent American paintings in this sale, as is an historic cotton kingdom genre painting, “Cabin Scene” by William Aiken Walker (1838-1931). Also offered are five striking woodblock prints by Joichi Hoshi (1913-1979), including the beautiful images of trees for which he is renowned. The sale also presents Two Grey Hills Navajo rugs, antique American coins and collectable bills, and a large lot of stamps from around the world.
