Fu Baoshi Scroll Ink Painting

Roll over for video transcript Revolutionary Chinese painter Fu Baoshi’s scroll Lady by the Bamboo is a star lot in Michaan’s Fine Asian Works of Art auction on Monday, June the 22nd at an estimate of $150,000-200,000.  Baoshi is regarded as one of the most important Chinese artists of the 20th century.  His individualistic take on composition stands front and center in Lady by the Bamboo.  The subject’s unusual orientation as well as the vantage point of her gaze is undoubtedly unorthodox.  Lady by the Bamboo stems from the private collection of Mr. David Galula, a French military officer, scholar and instrumental figure in the development of counterinsurgency warfare. Join us on June 22 for a chance to buy Fu Baoshi Scroll Ink Painting at auction!
