Signature works by Sam Francis, Wayne Thiebaud, and Bernard Buffet headline Michaan's Fine Sale, Friday, December 9th, which also showcases important Filipino artists Fernando Amorsolo and Solomon Saprid. Eduardo Kingman's “Mother and Child” and a collection of superb avian illustrations by Joseph Ludlow are in this auction, as are original works by Thomas Kinkade and LeRoy Neiman. Collectors will find iconic pieces from giants in design history: original Fortuny gowns, Dirk Van Erp's copper masterworks, Tiffany Studios desk sets, and Georg Jensen silver. Designs of William Spratling include a silver jewelry suite and a pair of his “Chieftain” leather slingback chairs. A carved oak Arts & Crafts chair, made by Mathews Furniture Shop for the San Francisco Masonic Temple, is one of many museum-quality lots. Rare collectable currency --- paper and coin --- will be offered, as will heirloom diamonds, period jewelry suites, and pieces from Tiffany, Cartier and Rolex. A top draw for bidders is an astonishing treasure trove of fine miniatures from around the world, assembled in lavish scale model rooms created by their San Francisco collector, Elizabeth “Mother Larke” Blodget.
