Michaan’s is pleased to announce the sale of a prominent San Francisco private library consisting of over 14,000 hardcover books that were accumulated over a period of fifty years by one family and kept in their Pacific Heights estate since the 1920s.
The collection is strong in history with great emphasis on American Presidential and Constitutional history, including volumes on Abraham Lincoln. British and French history is also well represented including major collections on Napoleon and World Wars I and II. Of special interest is a lovingly assembled collection of books on all aspects of Irish history, including many 19th century works.
There are over 50 sets of fine quality leather-bound volumes as well as over 100 sets of cloth bound books. The family built and preserved this collection over a period of 40 years. One seldom sees so many vintage titles preserved so well.
Additional subjects featured are Catholicism, Communism, Russian and California history with a strong emphasis on the history of the missions.
Do not miss the opportunity to preview and inspect this massive private collection - only once or twice in a generation does one see an accumulation of this size and content.
