Joichi Hoshi “Akebono” Woodcut

Roll over for video transcript Japanese master printmaker Joichi Hoshi enjoyed worldwide success during his lifetime, and his work has been avidly collected since his death in 1979. Hoshi is best known for his many studies of trees, which he greatly revered. This exquisite woodcut titled “Akebono,” or “Dawn,” is one of five Joichi Hoshi prints in the February auction.
