Lowell Herrero, Oil Painting Illustrations for Shell Chemical

Roll over for video transcript This trio of wonderful paintings is the work of Bay Area native Lowell Herrero, graduate of Oakland Tech High School and the renowned California College of Arts and Crafts, now known as CCA. Herrero enjoyed a long and successful career as a commercial artist and illustrator before settling in the Napa Valley, where he continued to paint daily until his death in 2015 at age 94. Lowell Herrero painted countless landscapes and figures drawn from life, but he also made many images that sprang from his vivid imagination. These three paintings display Herrero’s whimsical virtuosity and technical brilliance. Like the art of Piero Fornasetti, this trio could serve as the focal point in a chic room, setting a tone of sophistication and fun. Created for a calendar of the Shell Oil Company, the paintings are estimated at $800-$1,200 for the lot of three. Join us on February 10 for chance to buy Lowell Herrero, Oil Painting Illustrations for Shell Chemical at Michaan's Auctions!
