Elizabeth Keith Woodblock Print

Roll over for video transcript Elizabeth Keith’s "Hong Kong Harbor" will be presented at an estimate of $800-1,200 in the May 9th sale.  The print is of a refined impression, nicely displaying the clean color contrast of a shadowy evening touched by glimmers of light.  Keith’s time in Tokyo cast a spell on the British artist, inspiring and influencing her work.  Watanabe, a Shin Hanga publisher, came to publish more than one hundred of Keith’s woodblock prints, which proved to be successful in Japan, London and New York.  Many of her prints continue to be rare and desired as production was often kept quite low, some in editions of only thirty or fifty. Join us on May 9th for an opportunity to buy Elizabeth Keith Woodblock Print at Michaan's Auctions!
